Outdoor delights enliven your soul

Aside from being a mountain paradise that features a summer full of festivals and like celebrations, Telluride offers a wide array of outdoor activities. The kinds that put you in sync or in the clutch of nature. Hiking, biking, watersports, golfing, jeeping, fishing, mountain climbing and horseback riding are some of the locals and visitors favorite activities.

The sounds of birds melodiously chirping in the background are as prevalent as sightings of wildlife. Elk, deer, whistle pigs (marmots), eagles and maybe even bear and mountain lions are oft seen within a few minutes journey in the San Juans Mountains. Our mountain meadows are sprinkled with colors that make Monet's paintings look dull. Sensations such as the feel of mist from waterfalls touching your skin, the sound of elk bugling or the sight of butterflies waltzing from one daisy to another tantalize your imagination. Sun-drenched skin is invigorated by our seemingly endless days of cobalt-blue skies, smells of lavender, lupine, sage and evergreens permeate through the crisp mountain air and further excite the feelings inside you. Oh, and don't forget the exhilaration one feels rushing through your muscular system as you get in touch with your physical self.

The wonders and challenges of participating in the myriad of outdoor activities Telluride and the San Juan Mountains offer is no less than spectacular and healthy to boot. Please see TellurideStyle's many story-lines on outdoor activities beginning with Making Every Moment Count, Fly Fishing, Finding Your Inner-Child on a Mountain Bike, Buffalo Women, Kid's Style, Golfing, Fun City and the activity map found on page 50 shows the hot spots of our area. Ultimately, it seems life is merely a reflection of our memories and experiences.

Material goods can be added perks, but it is the good times we spend interacting with friends, family and even acquaintances that make life meaningful and full. Because Telluride has natural surroundings that beckon exploration and adventure, and has an atmosphere that promotes conversation vis-a-vis our vast array of dining establishments, taverns and festivals, it is the perfect place to fill your memory banks full of thrilling, romantic and even peacefully soothing moments.

Along this line, please take the time to get to know some of the locals profiled. They are the heartbeat of Telluride and make this town rich with vim and vigor. Now, go make some memories by seizing the day. Happy trails.
