Off the Cuff
Welcome to one of the most exciting, dynamic and idyllic millennium
getaways on earth! Telluride and Mountain Village offer travelers
and locals alike innumerable natural attractions and resort amenities
that can soothe your soul and tantalize the thrill seeker in you.
Crystalline-blue skies filled with stunning views canopy one town's
splendid historic architecture and the other's grand, European-flaired
villa. A glorious gondola ride whisks you between two uniquely different
towns and allows one to have a turn-of-thecentury experience in
all of 12 minutes.
As a National Historic Landmark District, the western ambiance
of Telluride has been revived and restored to the days when Butch
Cassidy, miners, railroaders and ladies-of-the-night lived their
lives. Lured here by its unwavering beauty and off-the-beaten-track
personality and location, Jeff and myself turned an intended two-year
"ski instructor" stint into our longterm home of 15 years
now. The positive energy Telluride and the San Juans has given us
over the years has been great and we hope you too will feel the
incredibly exuberant vibes our rarified atmosphere emits.
Showcased in Style, you will find activities that will make your
time here sparkle as brightly as Venus. From extreme adventure sports
to peaceful jaunts through the woodlands; from a relaxing dip under
the star-lit mountain skies to old-fashioned sleigh ride along the
rolling mesa tops; from a glider ride over the San Juans to carving
turns on America's most beautiful slopes, you'll find Telluride's
activity list goes on and on and on. Telluride's most comprehensive
and user-friendly guides to dining, shopping, real estate, services
and more may also be found in TellurideStyle along with quick reads
on our most treasured amenities... the locals. Profiled are many
of our town's personalities: Sally Courtney, "Captain Jack,"
the Tandem team of Tim and Nancy Hild, Richard Wodehouse of Wodehouse
Builders, Stuart Brown of Between the Covers, Michael and Joni McCullough
of Firehouse Gallery, and Peppe Vittiello and Paolo Canclini of
Rustico and the new La Piazza Ristorante in Mountain Village. It
is the people of Telluride that make our slice of heaven more interesting.
Without further adieu, please make the most or the least of your
time here in Telluride and remember, we all hold a responsibility
in setting a good and positive tone for this next millennium. Let
this benchmark year be a time for the human race to prove its intelligence
through its everyday actions or inactions. Let it be your time to
step up to the plate and take care of the planet (recycle and reuse),
broaden your psychological horizons by appreciating the diversity
in the human population and other creatures on the earth. Celebrate
simplicities, people and experiences. Be giving. Get the vibes. |
